| Ride For Knowledge |
Ride for Knowledge (RFK) is Rho Eta Omega’s signature project and has been in existence for 12 years. The tour stemmed from a former chapter project called Project Y.E.S. (Youth Enrichment Services). Project YES was a program for elementary students. The tour was formed as an extension to assist students in furthering their education.
RFK is a bus tour of historically Black colleges and universities. It also offers free seminars for parents and prospective students. The topics include information on financial aid, college life, careers and staying spiritually connected. The purpose of the tour is to acquaint high school students with historically black colleges and universities, what they offer, and to give them the opportunity to visit various campuses. The goal of the tour is to encourage African American high school students to further their education and to expose them to schools that they may not visit on their own. The trip is open to all ninth - eleventh graders in Richmond and surrounding counties.
Participants are diverse and are identified by providing information to area churches and high school guidance counselors. There have been students from Carver Promise, Sacred Heart, Teen Scene Project, YMCA and RRHA participating in this tour. Please view the RFK Flyer for 2010 Tour Details. If you are interested in joining us for our next Ride For Knowledge tour, complete the
RFK Application and Photo Consent Form. For further details, view the following document RFK Information Session or email us at rideforknowledge@reoaka.org.
